Purpose

The purpose of this course is to provide a refresher and reminder of the importance of following a few simple guidelines when dispensing medications to patients. (This course is actually a demonstration of Moodle at BeeLearn.com and not a course for nurses!)

Objectives

1. Provide the basic process of dispensing medications, as a refresher. It is not intended that for this course to be instructional...it is a refresher or reference only. Tips and Traps are also provided.
2. Provide a review of the Five Rights of Medication Safety
3. Provide examples of how not following these guidelines has resulted in patient injury or death, legal trouble for health care providers, and loss of nursing licenses.
4. Demonstrate some of the Moodle features at BeeLearn.com
   

Goals

It is important that you use this course as:

1. A quick reminder of the basic steps in medication dispensing.
2. A reminder of the Five Rights and why they're important.
3. A reminder to be ever vigilant as a nurse, and not to allow peer pressure, management pressure, or your own daily stresses to put your patients in danger or to risk losing your license.
4. A demonstration of how Moodle at BeeLearn.com can be used to create effective refresher training online for busy professionals.
   

It is expected that you already know all of this information and have experience in the practice of dispensing medications. This course is not intended as a first time instructional course.
